Upper eyelid lift

The eyes are the most important feature of the face in terms of individual appearance and conveying emotions. If the eyes appear tired or weary, this is clearly recognisable. If a persons eyelids are droopy, or the eyes only partially open, this can affect the way that others perceive them.

But in many cases, the person in question is not tired or weary and can do little to alter the aesthetic effect of his or her eyes. The illusion of tired, dull eyes is often caused by so called ‘hooded eyelids’. These are genetically pre-determined and arise because the muscle tension in the eyelid diminishes with age. There may additionally be excess skin on the upper eyelid, which, together with fatty tissue sags over the eyeballs. In such instances, cosmetic correction of the upper eyelids can represents a relatively simple and logical way of re-enhancing the eyes and bringing them back into harmony with face and emotions.

This treatment involves removal of excess skin, muscle and fat tissue form the upper eyelid, thus giving it a smoother, firmer appearance. I generally perform this procedure on both eyes, thus simultaneously compensating for any differences between them.
